Tsukiji

Even though I’ve been in Tokyo now for over two years, I hadn’t been to Tsukiji, the biggest fish market in Tokyo, until just last week. Tsukiji is only open from something like 4am to 12pm, and naturally being lazy as I am, I had a hard time getting the motivation to get out of bed early to get to the other side of Tokyo in time. Especially on a cold winter morning. But I finally did it, and I can honestly say Tsukiji is more than worth the effort. It’s a pretty amazing marketplace, with the freshest seafood you’ll ever see. Most of it is still alive while being on display. You can’t get any fresher than that.

Escape!

Despite being freezing cold inside the market, the workers had no problem delicately slicing fish with their bare hands.

I don’t think it can get any fresher than this…
